Hi all, great to see so many of you at the pub quiz last night! As lots of people will know already, the Open Meeting last night has been postponed until Tuesday at 7pm so we can get more people there - apologies for scheduling it too early in the evening yesterday for most people to make it.
The motion about removing the positions of women's officer and welfare officer and replacing them with a women's welfare officer and a men's welfare officer will involve changing the constitution, so we need 50 PEOPLE in the buttery on Tuesday night. We'll also be discussing budgets and creating several societies.
Could every society please try and make sure there's at least one representative of their society at the meeting to answer questions about their budget if necessary, and could everyone who's free PLEASE COME AND BRING THEIR FRIENDS, as the issues we're discussing are important to everyone in college (and we'll provide free sweets as extra motivation!!).
For anyone who's considering applying for the JCR next year, there'll be a discussion with current JCR members about applying/what their roles involve after the meeting.
Over the summer, the JCR has worked closely with the College Colours co-presidents, Matt Brown and Megan Wilson, to create a brand new website called Christ's College Sport. Christ's College Sport is the online home for Christ's sporting achievement. We aim to showcase all of Christ's sports teams, with information and photos about each team, fixture lists and results with match reports, as well as contact information. It's the best way to find out about sport at Christ's, and you can use the site to get involved with supporting teams, or joining one.
Christ's College Sport is now live at www.thejcr.co.uk/sport - most sports teams have already contributed to the site, but if your team hasn't, then let us know!
We hope you enjoy using Christ's College Sport. If you have any suggestions as to how we could improve the site, as ever, please let us know via the suggestion box or at email@example.com.
This year we have an exciting new feature for thejcr.co.uk to announce - an online Address Book of everyone in college, accessible by all students to find each other quickly and easily. Everyone will have a contact card initially with their name, Hermes email and year group, and when you first visit the page you'll be prompted to fill in more personal info - Facebook address, email, college room and phone no., etc. All of this is entirely optional, but we hope people will be happy sharing these details within our close community. If everyone fills in their card, the whole college will find contacting each other a lot easier.
Since this new system requires a mass input of data before becoming useful to people, we have decided that, in order to view the catalogue, you must first fill in your own profile. We feel this is only fair, and should mean that everyone's details fill up the database pretty quickly.
This system has been operated at other colleges with success. Using the College records held by the Tutorial Office, we have pre-populated our new system with the CRSids, names and matriculation years of every student at Christ's. For most people, this is no more information than is already available University-wide on UCS Lookup, but having it on the JCR website means easier access, and integration with more useful personal details. We really hope you'll find the Address Book a useful resource, and be keen to use it on a mutual basis. However, we appreciate privacy is a serious issue, therefore all other fields are optional - only share what you're happy for all Christ's students to see. This simple system ensures no data that we store can be shared with anyone you don't want it to.
In the hopefully unlikely circumstance you would rather be removed from the database altogether, we can hide your profile so it is completely deleted from the Address Book. If you wish to do this, please email firstname.lastname@example.org with your full name and CRSid, and we will process your request as soon as possible. Without a profile you may be unable to use the system to view others' details.
For more information, to fill in your profile and browse the Address Book, visit www.thejcr.co.uk/addressbook.
Thanks for reading; we hope you enjoying using the new address book!
thejcr.co.uk has a new design. The overall structure of the website, and page URLs, have not changed, but the look of the website has been updated with an aim to making the experience clearer and more focused. We hope you find it cleaner and more enjoyable to use! If you have any problems using the website, or notice anything that looks wrong, please contact email@example.com so it can be put right.
