Christ's JCR is the students' union for undergraduate members of Christ's College, Cambridge. On this website current students can find lots of useful information, including societies and sports clubs, welfare and the JCR Calendar of events in college. If you're thinking of applying to Christ's there's a whole section for you also.
If you want to get in touch with the Exec or have a suggestion, we'd love to hear from you!
The 4 year Classics course is for those who do not have an A-Level in Latin or Greek. It's a fantastic idea because many schools simply do not have the capabilities or resources to offer students the chance to do these subjects.
I managed to fit in being on the JCR during my second year, and have been making props and costumes for the amateur dramatics society throughout my time here. There’s also lots of time to see your friends too, and the JCR puts on lots of social events during the term which I always have time to go to.
History supervisions are normally just an hour or so a week, but at Christ's you will far more often than not be taught one-on-one by a leading expert in the field (often a College Fellow), rather than group teaching as is common in more supervision and contact heavy subjects.
Though law carries quite a tough workload, that’s not to say you won’t have time to have fun and do what you want to do - after all, you should be applying here because you want to broaden your horizons, not just to lock yourself away and study!
The Christ's College Students Union (CCSU) is the body charged with representing both the undergraduate and graduate students of Christ's College, unless they have chosen to opt out. Rather confusingly the CCSU is often referred to as the JCR (Junior Combination Room), the name used for undergraduate (Junior) members of college. The naming of the college student unions 'JCR' is a tradition that runs at a number of Collegiate Universities, including Durham and the other place.
